Though, in The day of the Jackal, the titular character’s ability to remain unrecognized is crucial to the plot. This presented a challenge for prosthetics designer Richard Martin and star Eddie Redmayne, who described the 10-episode Peacock spy thriller series as “a high wire act.”
“The Jackal is a bit of a perfectionist, and so is Richard,” Redmayne said.”So it was marvelous to be able to see what worked and what didn’t.”

martin and redmayne faced the challenge of not only concealing the actor but also teaching him the techniques of the trade, enabling Redmayne to convincingly transform himself on screen as the Jackal.
The series begins with Redmayne portraying a hunched-over, wrinkled, and balding German janitor, whose nightly routine soon turns deadly. It takes eight minutes before the audience sees the Oscar winner removing the layers of latex.
