Edmonton Defenseman Injured in Match Against Toronto
On November 16, 2024, Edmonton Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse was injured during a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Early in the second period, Nurse took a high hit to the head from Toronto forward Ryan Reaves. The impact caused Nurse to fall to the ice.
Trainers quickly attended to Nurse as the crowd in Scotiabank Arena remained silent. After a few minutes, he was assisted off the ice and did not return to the game. The Oilers confirmed his absence for the remainder of the match.
Ryan Reaves received a match penalty and a game misconduct after the incident. Before leaving the ice, Reaves spoke with Edmonton’s captain, Connor McDavid.
This season, Darnell Nurse has recorded two goals and seven assists in 17 games played.
