Milan-based designer and editor Edward Buchanan is launching a new creative space called THESITUATION in Milan’s NoLo district, scheduled to open on September 25 according to 10 Magazine. Designed to support and celebrate Black talent, the cultural and creative hub aims to provide a platform for artists and creatives from underrepresented communities who have historically faced barriers within the fashion and creative industries.
Roots in Bottega Veneta and Italian Fashion History
For Buchanan, establishing the project in Milan carries deep personal and professional significance. The city served as the starting point for his career and design evolution, including notable time spent working at Bottega Veneta. Returning to the city that helped shape his trajectory allows him to build an environment aimed at shaping the careers of others. According to 10 Magazine, the venue will host exhibitions, workshops, residencies, and educational initiatives to foster collaboration and skill-building without limitations.
