EFF Benefit Poker Tournament Returns to DEF CON 33
Las Vegas – The electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) will host its third annual benefit poker tournament at DEF CON 33, a hacker summer camp.The event, a key fundraiser for the digital rights association, will take place Aug. 8 at noon in the Horseshoe Poker Room, located at 3645 Las Vegas Blvd Overpass.
Security expert tarah Wheeler,an EFF board member,is hosting the EFF benefit poker tournament. Registration costs $250, with an additional $100 due the day of the tournament. Unlimited rebuys are allowed.All players receive a complimentary EFF Titanium Level Membership for the year.
This year’s tournament features Lintile as emcee and includes bug bounties. Players who eliminate others from the tournament receive a pin, and prizes will be awarded to those with the moast bounty pins.
Celebrity bounties add another layer of excitement. knocking out Wendy Nather, Chris “WeldPond” Wysopal, Jake “MalwareJake” Williams, Bryson Bort, or Allan Friedman earns players EFF swag and peer respect. Wheeler said that if someone knocks out her father,Mike,she will donate $250 to the EFF in their name.
For those new to poker or needing a refresher, Mike Wheeler will host a free poker clinic from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. before the tournament. He will cover rules, strategy, table behavior, and poker slang.
