The Egyptian Meteorological Authority reported daytime highs of 30°C in Cairo and 27°C in Alexandria alongside a temperature peak of 37°C in Aswan for Sunday, October 25, 2026, amid forecasts of unsettled weather across Egypt.
Active Thunderstorms Threaten Red Sea and Southern Valleys
Active thunderstorm activity is currently impacting Shalateen in the southern Red Sea mountain ranges, bringing varying intensities of rainfall and setting the stage for more widespread disturbances on Sunday. The General Authority for Meteorology projects a 30% chance of light to moderate thunderstorms across central and southern Sinai, the Red Sea governorate, and southern Upper Egypt. Rainfall is expected to intensify significantly over Halayeb, Shalateen, Ras Banas, and the southern Eastern Desert, with potential for flash floods across mountain passes and wadis. Furthermore, light rainfall with a 20% probability is anticipated across parts of the Northern Coasts, Lower Egypt, and the Canal Cities, potentially reaching Greater Cairo. The Authority also warned of thunderstorms that may feature strong downdrafts and lightning strikes in certain regional areas.

Morning Fog and Dust Winds Disruption
Dense water fog is projected to reduce visibility on major routes from 4:00 AM to 9:00 AM on Sunday, affecting northern regions, Greater Cairo, the Canal Cities, central Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt. The Authority advised drivers to use fog lights and maintain safe braking distances, while also suggesting they drive at a calm pace, avoid driving if visibility drops completely, crack vehicle windows slightly to prevent vapor condensation inside, and use the horn periodically so others notice their presence. Meanwhile, winds gusting between 30 and 35 kilometers per hour will stir up sand and dust across Halayeb, Shalateen, the southern Eastern Desert, and parts of southern Upper Egypt, while also affecting Greater Cairo and southern Sinai.

Red Sea Governorate Emergency Monitoring
The governorate’s National Network for Emergency and Public Safety Control Center is continuously monitoring satellite imagery to track cloud formations. Local authorities have urged residents and drivers in mountainous zones and valleys to avoid torrent paths and adhere strictly to official safety guidelines.
Projected Regional Temperatures
Daytime conditions will remain warm across northern areas and hot in the south, turning cool to cold during the night and early morning hours. Cairo is forecast to reach a high of 30°C and a low of 20°C, while Alexandria expects a high of 27°C and a low of 19°C. Ismailia will see a high of 30°C and a low of 19°C, and Matrouh ranges from a high of 25°C down to 17°C. Further south, Sharm El Sheikh anticipates a high of 33°C with a low of 24°C, and Aswan marks the highest reading of the system with a daytime high of 37°C and a nighttime low of 22°C. Additional regional temperature figures indicate Greater Cairo and Lower Egypt at 29°C to 19°C, the Northern Coasts at 25°C to 18°C, northern Upper Egypt at 31°C to 17°C, and southern Upper Egypt at 36°C to 20°C.
