Egyptian Star Ali al-Tayeb Sparks Controversy with Sudden Apology to “Omar Effendi” Creators – What’s Behind the Shocking “De Haja 13” Drama
Ali Al-Tayeb Apologizes to Creators of “Omar Effendi” Series
Ali Al-Tayeb, the artist, has apologized to the creators of the “Omar Effendi” series for expressing his displeasure over the series’ failure to indicate his preference for using the phrase “it’s something 13”.
Ali Al-Tayeb wrote on his Facebook account: “I deleted the post because I published it in a way that offended my colleagues with what I wrote, but they offended me because they did not quote it from Wadih Al-Basati in any program or meeting. The character is in the flesh, not just talking on paper, he tries and he says his words, and that was part of my effort to present something in the series.”

Ali Al-Tayeb added: “And I think we’re in the same profession, which means we know each other’s work and we know each other well, and it’s not possible for us to work on art or a script and discover that for one of my colleagues there is a famous sentence or word and he succeeded with it and I repeat it or ignore him and his efforts and respect his success and right.”

He continued: “And more important than all this, I discovered that some journalists will turn the problem into a problem and magnify the problem between me and Hatem, Abu Sari and Aya, and we are the ones with whom everything is good. I felt that I did not condition that he is annoyed to ignore them, so I do not want to let the matter escalate and take a merciless direction.”
Ali Al-Tayeb revealed in a previous statement on the ”Party 11″ program presented by journalist Samar Yousri that he used the expression “It’s 13 at all” in the series “What Happened” in 2019. The author is Abdel Rahim Kamal, and the expression refers to something different because its number is 13, while “dozen” consists of 12 elements.
