Ahmed Hegazi, Egyptian national team defender and Saudi NEOM ranked professional player, has addressed his decision to leave the Egypt national team camp ahead of the upcoming Botswana match.
The technical staff of the Egyptian national team had decided to drop Hegazi from the upcoming match, as revealed by a source via “Yalla Koura”.
Hegazi took to his official Instagram page to share his side of the story, stating, “I did not apologize for the camp of the Egyptian national team this morning was removed from the position of coach of the Egyptian national team.”
He further explained, “In response to the circumstances of yesterday’s match, I also did not apologize for the fight, a member of the technical director’s assistant staff had a full view and reaction to the hearing.”

He concluded by wishing the Egyptian team success in their upcoming matches.
The controversy surrounding Hegazi’s exit began after he clashed with the Egyptian national team’s coaching staff over his non-participation in the Cape Verde match, which ended with a (3-0) score.
The match was part of the first round of African qualifiers for the Cup of Nations (Morocco 2025), with the “Pharaohs” set to play a second round match against Botswana next Tuesday.
Several players, including Mohamed Salah, attempted to calm the situation between Hegazi and the national team’s technical staff before the player’s exit was finalized.
