The study focused on eight specific healthy habits: regular physical activity, a balanced diet, adequate sleep, stress management, social engagement, cognitive stimulation, avoiding smoking, and limiting alcohol consumption. Researchers found a correlation between adhering to these habits and the preservation of white matter integrity.

White matter, ofen overshadowed by its more famous counterpart, gray matter, plays a vital role in brain function. Composed of axons, the “wiring” that transmits signals between brain cells, white matter is essential for dialog and data processing.
