Expansion Includes New Social wing

The Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Halle,as ⁢it is⁢ indeed formally known,underwent both renovation of ⁤the‍ existing structure ⁤and expansion wiht a new⁣ social wing on its east side. This addition⁢ features four ⁢separate changing rooms, each measuring 28 square meters.

The new wing also⁢ includes sanitary facilities with showers, sinks, and‍ toilets, along with equipment and lounge areas for referees, trainers, and sports teachers. A directing cabin, complete with a large glass pane providing a view of the hall,⁣ is another key feature.

Roof Design Enhances Space

Inside the historic hall, crews removed the ‍old flooring, installed underfloor heating, and laid a new sports floor. Walls now feature extensive impact protection.

A notable design element is⁤ the open roof structure. The original ceiling between the ⁣hall and ‍the roof gable was removed for structural reasons, exposing the preserved steel framework. The roof ‍itself⁣ had been previously re-covered and received thermal insulation during the interior renovation.⁣ The historical roof dormer now serves for exposure and ventilation, complemented by new LED lighting.

Barrier-Free Entrance and Historical Elements

The sports‍ hall’s entrance was relocated from the south to the north side to provide barrier-free access. the entrance leads into a foyer featuring three domes of light in the ceiling. ⁤A wall display showcasing historical ⁤documents and photos adds a⁣ unique ‍touch.

Historically, ‍the Jahnsporthalle served as a riding hall for ⁣the infantry regiment stationed in eisenach.‍ During the ⁣German Democratic Republic (GDR) era,⁤ it functioned as a garage for the ⁢People’s Police before becoming the home of BSG Motor Eisenach’s successful handball team in the 1960s.The ‍hall is named after Friedrich ludwig Jahn, ⁣known as the father of gymnastics.

Restored Lettering ⁢and New Equipment
