Culiacán, Sinaloa – Mexican authorities have apprehended Hernán Domingo Ojeda López, alias “El mero Mero,” a key figure in the sinaloa Cartel and uncle of notorious drug lord Ovidio Guzmán, known as “El Ratón.” Ojeda was arrested in the town of La majada de arriba, Badiraguato, sinaloa, a known hub for drug trafficking operations.
Ojeda is accused of orchestrating the movement of fentanyl pills from Culiacán to the United States. He faces charges of organized crime and is considered a major generator of violence in the region.
The arrest was the result of a joint operation by Mexico’s security cabinet, including elements from the Secretary of the Navy, National Defense, the Attorney General’s Office, and the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection.

Acting on intelligence, authorities identified La Majada de Arriba as a key transit point for fentanyl shipments. Upon arriving in the town, agents spotted Ojeda, who was carrying a firearm and a large sum of cash. A subsequent search revealed two bags containing fentanyl pills.
Ojeda was taken into custody and is currently being held by the Attorney General’s Office, where his legal status will be persistent.
