El Phantasmo Out With Knee Injury, Tomoaki Honma Takes Role

El Phantasmo missed Thursday’s New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) show in Aomori due to a right knee injury. The injury forced a change in his scheduled role at the New Japan Soul event.
Phantasmo had been slated to team with Hirooki Goto and Yuya Uemura in a six-man tag match against zack Sabre Jr., Ryohei Oiwa, and hartley Jackson. Tomoaki Honma stepped in to fill the role, joining Goto and Uemura. Their team secured a victory, with Uemura pinning jackson.
NJPW announced the change to fans before the show, stating that El Phantasmo was not cleared to compete.
“El Phantasmo has sustained a right knee injury and has not been cleared to compete tonight. tonight’s main event will see tomoaki Honma replace ELP against TMDK,” the promotion wrote.
The wrestling promotion has not yet released further details regarding the severity of Phantasmo’s injury or a timeline for his return. His next scheduled match is this Saturday. The New Japan Soul tour began Wednesday, with Phantasmo, Goto, and Shota Umino defeating Sabre, Oiwa, and jackson.
