Leaked set footage and photographs appearing online on April 3 and April 4, 2026, have provided the first glimpse into the live-action film adaptation of Elden Ring. The footage, which surfaced on TikTok and Reddit, suggests that production is currently underway in the English countryside.
The project is a collaboration between A24 and Bandai Namco, with writer and director Alex Garland leading the production. Garland was officially announced as the creative lead for the project in May 2025.
Details of the Leaked Footage
The leaks originated from TikTok user throxtv, who posted videos of a fenced-off filming site. The footage shows a large outdoor build that appears to be a recreation of one of the game’s Churches of Marika, featuring a large statue of Queen Marika at the center of the ruins.
Other visible elements in the clips include crucifixion stakes, which resemble the scenery found in the game’s Limgrave area, as well as wooden carriages and barrels. The user throxtv stated in a Discord message that the filming was taking place approximately 10 minutes from their home.
The legitimacy of the footage has been supported by the appearance of the logo for Hedgehog Construction on various set blocks. Hedgehog Construction is a scenery company based in Egham, Surrey, England, which specializes in sets for film and television.
Production Background and Development
The film adaptation was first announced in May 2025. According to reports from 2025, Alex Garland pitched the project using a 160-page script and 40 pages of imagery. Garland also traveled to Japan with A24 to secure necessary approvals from Bandai Namco and FromSoftware.
Adapting the source material presents a unique challenge for the production team, as the original video game by FromSoftware is characterized by minimal dialogue and a heavy reliance on environmental worldbuilding.
While the leaked footage has generated significant attention, the set in the videos appears to be incomplete. Additional footage shared by throxtv indicates that a tarp has since been installed at the site to shield the set from public view.
Neither A24 nor Bandai Namco has issued a public comment regarding the leaked images and videos as of April 5, 2026.
