Berkshire Events Focus on Elder Law and Estate Planning

Several councils on aging in Berkshire County are partnering with the Massachusetts Bar Association (MBA) and Berkshire Law Group to host free elder law education events.These sessions, aimed at seniors and their families, will cover crucial topics in elder law and estate planning.
The events coincide with the release of the MBA’s updated “2025 Elder Law education Guide,” a free resource available both at the events and online. Paula Almgren, an elder law attorney and founder of berkshire Law group, will lead the presentations. almgren, a contributor to the guide, brings years of experience in eldercare to the forefront.
Almgren’s presentation, titled “I Wish More Seniors and Families Knew … Insights from an Elder Law and Estate Planning Attorney,” will delve into how elder law enhances estate planning. Attendees will learn about essential financial and health directives, strategies for protecting assets, and often-overlooked community benefits that can help with care costs. she will also pose critical “what-if” questions for seniors to consider.
Bryan Murphy, attorney, and Kulli Bloom, RN and Care Coordinator, both from Berkshire Law Group, will join Almgren. Bloom leads the firm’s TWC (the Whole crew) program, which combines estate planning and asset protection with care advocacy.
The events are free and open to the public:
- Great Barrington Council on Aging: wednesday, June 11, 1:30 p.m. at the Claire Teague Senior Center, 917 South Main st.
- Lee Council on Aging: Thursday, June 12, 1:30 p.m. at the Lee Council on Aging and Senior Center, 21 Crossway St.
- Stockbridge council on Aging: Saturday, June 21, 10 a.m. to noon at the Red Lion Inn. A complimentary continental breakfast will be served. Reservations are required by June 10; call (413) 637-5075 or email kulli@berkshirelawgroup.com.
