Electoral Fraud 2024 Lok Sabha Polls: Shashi Tharoor, BJP EC Allegations
Rahul Gandhi and Shashi Tharoor Allege Widespread Election Rigging, BJP Rejects Claims

The 2024 Lok Sabha elections are under intense scrutiny following explosive allegations of electoral manipulation leveled by congress leader Rahul gandhi, backed by a notable shift in stance from fellow party member shashi Tharoor. Gandhi claims a “huge criminal fraud” occurred through collusion between the BJP and the Election Commission of India (EC), sparking a political firestorm and demands for openness.
Congress Leaders Demand Investigation into Alleged Electoral Fraud
Rahul Gandhi has presented what he calls “concrete evidence” of widespread rigging, alleging the poll body actively worked to manufacture a victory for the ruling BJP. This accusation has been amplified by Shashi Tharoor, a traditionally outspoken but recently cautious voice within the Congress party.”These are serious questions which must be seriously addressed in the interests of all parties & all voters,” Tharoor posted on X. “Our democracy is too precious to allow its credibility to be destroyed by incompetence, carelessness or worse, intentional tampering,” he added, urging the EC to act swiftly and clear the air.
Tharoor’s support is particularly critically important given his recent divergence from the party line, including praise for prime minister Narendra Modi and critiques of the Emergency era – positions that drew criticism from within Congress and provided ammunition for the BJP. This public backing of Gandhi’s claims signals a serious concern within the party regarding the integrity of the election process.
Gandhi Drops “Vote Theft“ Bombshell: Focus on karnataka Discrepancy
Gandhi alleges large-scale vote choir (vote theft) has been occurring as the 2024 polls, describing the entire electoral process as “staged.” He specifically points to a concerning anomaly in the Mahadevpura assembly segment of Karnataka, which falls under the Bengaluru Central lok Sabha seat.
According to Gandhi’s claims, the BJP gained an inflated lead of 1,14,046 votes in Mahadevpura. This significant increase, he argues, enabled the BJP to win Bengaluru Central by a margin of just 32,707 votes, despite Congress leading in most other segments. Gandhi frames this as evidence of deliberate manipulation of results by the EC in favor of the BJP.
To substantiate his claims and ensure transparency, Gandhi is demanding access to machine-readable voter data from the past 10-15 years, alongside CCTV footage from all polling stations. “If the EC does not give us machine-readable data for the past 10-15 years and the CCTV footage, they are partaking in the crime,” he stated, raising the stakes and directly implicating the Election Commission. This demand for ancient data aims to identify patterns of potential manipulation and build a stronger case for systemic irregularities.
BJP Dismisses Allegations as “Bogus” and “Irresponsible”
The BJP has vehemently rejected Gandhi’s accusations, dismissing them as “bogus claims” and accusing him of insulting voters by questioning the legitimacy of their decision. Party officials argue that Gandhi’s remarks are rooted in “frustration and anger” stemming from the Congress party’s repeated electoral defeats.
in a strong rebuttal, the BJP stated that voters will continue to reject the Congress for what they deem “irresponsible and shameless” conduct. The party maintains that the election was conducted fairly and transparently, and that the Congress is attempting to delegitimize the democratic process due to its inability to accept defeat. The BJP has called on Gandhi to provide concrete proof to support his allegations, rather than relying on unsubstantiated claims.
