AFC Champions League: Yokohama F. Marinos Thrash Buriram United 5-0
Asian Capitals, November 6 – In a thrilling match, Japan’s Yokohama F. Marinos secured a convincing 5-0 victory over Thailand’s Buriram United in the fourth round of the elite AFC Champions League East Asian Group.
Yokohama’s goals were scored by Anderson Lopez, who netted two goals, including one from a penalty kick, in the 45th and 57th minutes. Kenta Inoue and Asahi Uenaka also found the back of the net in the 11th and 45+2 minutes, respectively. Buriram United’s Neil Etheridge scored an own goal in the 66th minute, sealing the win for Yokohama.
With this win, Yokohama F. Marinos jumped to third place with seven points, while Buriram United dropped to sixth place on goal difference.
The standings are heating up, with four teams tied on seven points: Japan’s Yokohama, Malaysia’s Johor Darul Taksim, China’s Shanghai Shenhua, and Thailand’s Buriram United.
Pohang Steelers Defeat Shandong Taishan 4-2
In another exciting match, South Korea’s Pohang Steelers defeated China’s Shandong Taishan 4-2 in the same tournament framework.
Pohang Steelers’ goals were scored by Jai He Jeong, Jorge Luiz, Anderson Carvalho, and Oberdan in the 30th, 64th, 68th, and 76th minutes, respectively. Shandong Taishan’s Bo Chen and Vincenzo Montella scored in the 33rd and 90th minutes.
Pohang Steelers’ score rose to six points, securing seventh place, while Shandong Taishan dropped to ninth place with four points.
