August 22, 2025 Lisa Park - Tech Editor Tech

Navigating the Drinks Menu⁤ at Electric Picnic 2025

Published August 22, 2025

the Wine Situation: A Realistic Outlook

Electric Picnic is almost here, and for those of us ⁢over 25, a crucial‍ question looms: can you actually get a good glass of‍ wine? After 15 years observing the beverage ‍offerings at the Theater of Food and ⁤Drinks Theatre at Mindfield, the answer, unfortunately, is frequently enough ⁤no. Expectations should be tempered; a‍ truly satisfying vino ⁣has been a rarity as 2016, the last year the beloved Car-au-Vin graced the Trailer Park.

Electric Picnic⁣ Drinks⁤ Guide 2025

  • Wine Quality: ⁤Historically low, with the best options likely found‌ at the Drinks theatre tastings.
  • Beer Options: ⁣ Primarily Heineken brands, but Beamish⁢ will be available.
  • Wine Tastings: Irish Apple Brandy (Sunday 2pm), Natural⁢ Wines (Saturday 3pm), Wine Cans⁣ & Bags‍ (Sunday 4pm) at the Drinks‌ Theatre.
  • Bag-in-Box Wines: A surprisingly good option,available⁢ at SuperValu and ‍O’Brien’s.

The most⁤ reliable place to find decent wine will likely ⁤be the sample offerings at the Drinks Theatre. This year’s schedule includes tastings of Irish Apple Brandy ⁣on Sunday at 2pm, Natural Wines on Saturday at 3pm, and a ‍focus on Wine Cans ‌& bags on Sunday at 4pm. Keep‍ an eye out for Chat-Fou and LAB‍ from Lisboa in Portugal – Pinto and Lilith⁤ are the producers to watch.

Beyond the Glass: Wine Recommendations for EP

Given that glass⁤ isn’t‍ permitted⁤ on site, bag-in-box wines are a smart choice, and their quality has improved significantly in recent years. SuperValu stocks⁤ options from Campo Viejo and ⁤19 Crimes. For a ⁢more adventurous selection, head to O’Brien’s ‌or a ⁢well-stocked autonomous wine merchant.
