Electric Picnic is almost here, and for those of us over 25, a crucial question looms: can you actually get a good glass of wine? After 15 years observing the beverage offerings at the Theater of Food and Drinks Theatre at Mindfield, the answer, unfortunately, is frequently enough no. Expectations should be tempered; a truly satisfying vino has been a rarity as 2016, the last year the beloved Car-au-Vin graced the Trailer Park.
The most reliable place to find decent wine will likely be the sample offerings at the Drinks Theatre. This year’s schedule includes tastings of Irish Apple Brandy on Sunday at 2pm, Natural Wines on Saturday at 3pm, and a focus on Wine Cans & bags on Sunday at 4pm. Keep an eye out for Chat-Fou and LAB from Lisboa in Portugal – Pinto and Lilith are the producers to watch.
