The European Union has long since started a real crusade against thermal engines, and there is now a change of program. That’s when the fate of petrol and diesel will be decided.
The famous and much discussed Green Deal so wanted by Europe involves a series of limitations for automotive manufacturers, up to the fateful 2035 date. From that moment on, according to current laws, The sale of cars with internal combustion engine will be banneda scenario that, at present, would destroy what remains of a sector already in serious crisis.
Electric cars, in fact, do not convince customers and are not economic sustainable by the manufacturers, who know how to send letters to the European Union, to save at least the hybrid cars from the aforementioned ban. For 2026 a revision of the Green Deal was scheduledin which Europe should have met the representatives of the major car groups, so as to establish any variations to the legislation. But now there is an important novelty, which is destined to change the cards on the table.
Car, at the end of 2025 Europe will decide the ban to thermal engines
Contrary to what was initially established, The revision of the Green Deal will already be held at the end of 2025thus going to anticipate the times. The European Commission, as far as it emerges, could in fact reconsider its decisions in the coming months, but it is not yet clear what the reason behind this move is. Probably, there are the many requests for changes and the complaints of the manufacturers, such as Mercedes but also THATor the manufacturers’ association.

According to the brands, Hybrid cars should be saved from Ban, especially the hybrid plug-inso as to guarantee a future for the internal combustion engine. However, it must be said that in the course of the last few years, something similar had already happened, with Europe that seemed ready to take a step back on the stop to thermal vehicles, only to confirm the 2035 as Deadline for these cars.
In any case, nothing is yet confirmed, but the hope is that the review takes place in all respects, and that Brussels bureaucrats can adopt a minimum of common sense. To focus only on electric cars is equivalent, to date, to total suicideand we know well that the impositions have never been able to lead to positive results. Zero emissions cars are still not very welcome by customers, and that is why it will be necessary to proceed with great caution.
