ElevenLabs chief executive officer Mati Staniszewski announced at the company’s first India Summit in Bengaluru that the voice artificial intelligence firm plans to expand its platform to cover all 22 officially recognized Indian languages over the next year. The London-based voice AI company is currently valued at about $22 billion and provides speech-to-text and text-to-speech services in 14 Indian languages using its Eleven v4 model.
Expanding Voice AI Across India
India has quickly become ElevenLabs‘ largest market outside the United States. Staniszewski stated at the Bengaluru gathering that solving human-AI interaction in the country proves the technology can work anywhere. The company aims to build systems that sound natural, listen, understand context, and follow guardrails during everyday conversations. Industry data from Tracxn shows that the global voice AI sector includes 153 companies worldwide, with 107 funded firms raising $3.6 billion in venture capital and private equity through August.
The company’s latest Eleven v4 model supports more than 90 languages globally, with 14 of those belonging to India’s official language ecosystem. Adding the remaining scheduled languages involves managing complex linguistic traits such as regional accents, pronunciation shifts, and code-switching where speakers mix English with regional tongues in a single sentence.

Indian Enterprises and Government Partner with ElevenLabs
Enterprise customers account for 55 percent of ElevenLabs’ revenue globally, with the company crossing a $600 million revenue run rate. More than 250 businesses and enterprises across India currently use the platform, including Razorpay, TVS Motor, Urban Company, Meesho, IDFC Bank, and Cars24. business-standard.com noted that Indian businesses recorded 100 million conversations on ElevenAgents over the past year, with over 70 percent occurring in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu.
During the summit, ElevenLabs formalized its first state government partnership in India by signing a memorandum of understanding with the Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society. Karnataka Minister for Information Technology and Biotechnology Priyank Kharge joined Staniszewski to establish the agreement. The collaboration will explore voice AI adoption in Kannada for skilling, citizen services, grievance redressal, responsible AI development, and voice restoration initiatives.
Voice AI Promotes Digital Equality in India
Nandan Nilekani, non-executive chairman of Infosys and architect of Aadhaar, described voice AI as the final frontier and the only practical interface to establish true digital equality in a nation of 1.4 billion people. With hundreds of millions of residents still using feature phones and over 100 spoken languages active nationwide, India serves as a primary testing ground for scalable voice applications. ElevenLabs is working toward a workforce of 100 employees in the country to support this rapid commercial deployment.
People should be able to interact with AI as naturally as they interact with each other, through conversation and through voice, in their language and dialect.
Mati Staniszewski
