Ellen degeneres has found a new appreciation for life across the pond, declaring that her experience in the United Kingdom is “just better” than in the United States. The beloved television personality, who has been spending time in the U.K. with her wife Portia de rossi, shared her glowing impressions during a recent conversation with Kevin Bacon.
A Simpler, More Gorgeous Existence
DeGeneres painted a picture of idyllic charm, describing the U.K. as “absolutely beautiful.” she highlighted the picturesque villages, towns, and architecture, noting that the scenery offers a “simpler way of life” that she finds incredibly appealing.
“We’re just not used to seeing this kind of beauty,” DeGeneres remarked. “The villages and the towns and the architecture – everything you see is charming and it’s just a simpler way of life.”
Beyond the aesthetics, DeGeneres also praised the overall environment and social atmosphere. “It’s clean. Everything here is just better – the way animals are treated, people are polite.I just love it here,” she stated, emphasizing a sense of well-being and respect that resonates with her.
U.K. as a Potential Haven for Marriage Rights
The conversation also touched upon the shifting political landscape in the U.S. regarding same-sex marriage. DeGeneres expressed concern over efforts by some religious groups in America to reverse the Supreme Court’s decision that legalized same-sex marriage nationwide.
“The Baptist church in america is trying to reverse gay marriage,” she explained. “They’re trying to literally stop it from happening in the future and possibly reverse it.”
In light of these developments, degeneres revealed that she and Portia are exploring the possibility of getting married again in the U.K. if such reversals occur in the U.S.”Portia and I are already looking into it, and if they do that, we’re going to get married here,” she shared, underscoring the importance of marriage equality for her and her wife.
Addressing Workplace Allegations and Personal Reputation
DeGeneres also candidly addressed the allegations of a toxic workplace culture that surfaced regarding her U.S.talk show, as well as the public perception of her being “mean.” She acknowledged that her direct and blunt interaction style might have been misinterpreted.
“It’s as simple as, I’m a direct person, and I’m very blunt, and I guess sometimes that means that… I’m mean?,” she pondered.
The experience of facing such criticism has clearly taken a toll. “I don’t think I can say anything that’s ever going to get rid of that [reputation] or dispel it, which is hurtful to me,” DeGeneres admitted. ”I hate it. I hate that people think that I’m that as I know who I am and I know that I’m an empathetic, compassionate person.”
Despite her personal feelings about the controversy, DeGeneres acknowledged that it was an unfortunate way to conclude her long-running talk show. ”But DeGeneres admitted that it was ‘certainly an unpleasant way to end’ her talk show,” the article notes, reflecting on the bittersweet conclusion to her television career.
