Elliot ​James Reay, ⁤a ​23-year-old singer-songwriter from Bury, Greater Manchester, has ‌transitioned from performing in shopping centers to achieving TikTok fame. Reay, inspired by teh Elvis Presley era,⁤ recently ​released his northern soul⁤ track, “Who ⁢Knew Dancing Was A Sin,” and is eager‌ to share more of his music.

Reay’s⁣ journey ‍included a tour of south East Asia and a visit to Elvis Presley’s Graceland home after receiving an award in Memphis,US. “It was a really eye-opening thing because ⁤I had‍ never​ seen Memphis and⁢ I had my ⁣vision of it,” Reay said. “It was better than I imagined.”

After performing to large crowds in​ Malaysia, Vietnam, the philippines, and Indonesia, reay is briefly back home.”I was doing shopping malls ​and showing up and thousands⁤ of people⁢ were rocking up,” he said. ​His retro-inspired music⁤ has resonated with many fans. “I enjoy that sound and era but I feel like that, especially in South East Asia, ⁢thay do a lot of karaoke and the karaoke over ⁢there is all the 1960s up to the 90s.”

Touring is ⁤Reay’s priority, with gigs planned ⁢across ​England in July, followed by more international shows. ⁤”I’ve⁢ got so many other songs that I’m itching⁣ to show everyone and release and obviously for my ⁤songs ⁢that are out, I just want to sing over and over and over again,” Reay stated. “I want to meet​ every ⁤single person that’s​ supported‌ me and just thank them and​ show some respect as they got ⁣me where I am.”

Reay is working on an album, following the ‍release of “Who Knew Dancing Was⁤ A Sin” in May. The song was inspired by‌ his partner’s parents,who are Northern Soul fans. “They wanted a track written for their nights out and ​they said‍ can you write us‍ a Northern soul⁤ style track,” Reay explained.

The storyline involves his partner suspecting⁤ infidelity, but ⁢he’s actually just out dancing. “The main⁤ storyline of it was ‍my partner thinks that I’m cheating on her but actually I’m going dancing and ⁣she’s ​asking me ⁢who are these people, who’s Jackie – we’re referencing Jackie Wilson there who’s probably one of the greats of the ⁣scene if you ‌like,” ⁢he said. Reay ⁢added that the song carries a positive message‌ about enjoying dancing without needing to explain oneself.

While his success soars, Reay relaxes by playing snooker. “It’s quite a relaxing game.I think I’ve always ⁢liked it even before I was doing music​ as ⁢a career‍ like this,” he⁤ said.”I just get into a zone while I’m playing.”
