Elliot Page is set to introduce a landmark production of William Shakespeare’s As You Like It in London this summer. The project is being helmed by the company Trans What You Will Theatre and features an entirely trans and non-binary cast and creative team. Page will join live from New York to open the premiere of the show at The Space Theatre in London on July 24, 2026.
The premiere date coincides with the eve of London Trans+ Pride. The production will also be livestreamed to a global audience, allowing viewers outside of London to access the performance. There will be previews taking place on July 22 and July 23, 2026, leading up to the official opening night.
The announcement regarding Page’s involvement was made on Trans Day of Visibility. Trans What You Will Theatre confirmed that the Oscar-nominated star, known for roles in Juno and Inception, would support the initiative. The production marks a significant moment for trans and non-binary representation in British theatre, following the organization’s previous successes.
Shakespeare wrote characters who defy easy categories long before we had language for it – and that feels as relevant now as it ever has. Trans What You Will is proving that these stories have always belonged to us, and I’m honored to support that work. Can’t wait to share this with an audience.

Production Details and Plot
As You Like It follows a girl named Rosalind as she escapes to the Forest Of Arden to flee persecution. During her escape, she disguises herself as a man named Ganymede. In disguise, she then tries to help her love interest Orlando ‘cure’ himself of his feelings for her, which he does not believe he can act on. The comedy of cross-dressing, mistaken identity and desire unbound by gender makes it a notable choice for this groundbreaking production.
Director Phoebe Kemp, who is non-binary, is leading the creative team. Kemp has also directed a production of Twelfth Night which will be staged in Barcelona on August 1, 2026. This upcoming Barcelona production will also be livestreamed and marks the first time the company has taken its work outside of the UK.
I am delighted to be back directing another of Shakespeare’s gendery plays for Trans What You Will! I am so excited to dive into all the queerness and gender exploration within As You Like It. The trans community is still facing worsening oppression worldwide, and the opportunity to counter that with joy is an honour. Can’t wait to share with you all what we create!

Company History and Charity Support
Trans What You Will’s debut theatre production was performed in July 2025. That initial project featured Ian McKellen undertaking a rehearsed reading of Twelfth Night. The 2025 production was widely celebrated as a landmark moment for trans and non-binary representation in British theatre.
The debut production achieved significant success, with over 2,300 tickets sold. The run raised £8,000 for the trans charity Not A Phase. The new production of As You Like It is organised by Trans What You Will Theatre and The Space Theatre, London, and runs across three nights.
Ticketing and Accessibility
Tickets for evening performances and the global livestream are now live and available on a sliding scale. A matinee will be offered exclusively to LGBTQ+ under-25s and youth groups across London. Remaining matinee seats will be offered via a free lottery for under 25s, following priority allocation to LGBTQ+ youth organisations across London.
Elliot Page Career Context
In related career developments, Page spoke in 2025 about the joy of reuniting with Christopher Nolan on The Odyssey. Page had previously worked with the director in the 2010 film Inception, ten years before he announced his transition. Page described the experience of working with the actor as his authentic self as a significant positive development.
I was so excited to be thought of for [The Odyssey] and to be asked to come back to work with him. I loved working with him on Inception and loved being a part of that movie. I was just completely jazzed and excited, and [I] basically went and met with Chris and talked about the part, then sat in a room and read the script. It was such a joy to come back.

The upcoming Christopher Nolan adaptation of The Odyssey remains one of the anticipated projects involving the actor. The London production of As You Like It represents a continued commitment to supporting trans visibility in the arts through high-profile collaborations and accessible ticketing structures.
