Elon Musk’s time with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has concluded. The departure, facilitated at a senior staff level, follows disagreements over spending cuts. Musk, who served as a special government employee, was limited to 130 days of service within a 365-day period.
Musk thanked President Trump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending. He stated on X that the cost-cutting initiative would continue. The initial goal of $2 trillion in government spending cuts was later reduced to $150 billion.
In an interview with CBS,Musk criticized Trump’s domestic policy agenda,alleging that the new Republican spending bill would increase the federal deficit and undermine DOGE’s work. White House officials maintain that Musk’s departure was amicable.
