Tomasz Kopeć, president of the Polish Musical Foundation, provided an update on Elżbieta Dmoch’s condition on September 22, 2026, speaking to Telemagazyn. The organization has maintained contact with the singer for several years to assist with her daily life. The state of her health is not worsening, though neither can we speak of a spectacular improvement, Kopeć stated in the interview, adding that the vocalist is currently preparing for the colder months by reviewing her winter wardrobe. Dmoch resides in her own apartment in Saska Kępa without returning to artistic work or granting interviews. Approximately seven to eight individuals are involved in her support system, helping with tasks like grocery shopping and cleaning, with at least one person visiting her every week.

Apartment Renovation and Restoring Royalties

Public attention turned to Dmoch’s difficult living conditions in 2022 when she was hospitalized twice and her apartment was found to be in need of a major overhaul. The Polish Musical Foundation organized a rescue effort alongside friends and fans, renovating the flat and equipping it with necessary appliances. In the following months, supporters purchased a new washing machine, a television, and a landline telephone, which proved more comfortable for her to use than a mobile device. Fans also regularly sent care packages. Beyond physical living arrangements, the foundation helped sort out the singer’s performance rights. Agreements secured by the foundation allow the 2 plus 1 catalog to be licensed for films and television series, ensuring Dmoch receives regular royalty payments instead of relying solely on a modest pension. The Polish Musical Foundation continues to accept direct donations on its website to support the artist.

Before launching 2 plus 1, Dmoch studied singing, flute, and piano, joining the Janusz Kruk-led group Warszawskie Kuranty in the late 1960s. Together with Kruk, she founded 2 plus 1 in January 1971. The group achieved success by blending pop with folk, rock, and electronic textures, while Dmoch earned fame across the PRL era for her distinct voice, stage energy, and persona. Hits like Chodź, pomaluj mój świat, Windą do nieba, Czerwone słoneczko, and Wstawaj, szkoda dnia established her as an artist of Polish pop. Dmoch and Kruk married in the 1970s and divorced in the late 1980s, though they kept performing together until Kruk died suddenly of a heart attack on June 18, 1992. After a brief, unsuccessful attempt to revive 2 plus 1 in the late 1990s, Dmoch gave her final public performance in 2002. She has spent more than two decades away from the concert stage, declining all industry events and media inquiries.
