Taipei 101 Chairman Receives Threatening Email
(Central News Agency reporter Liu Qianling, Taipei, 17th) Taipei 101 chairman Jia Yongji recently received a threatening email that he posted on Facebook today that he has accepted all kinds of criticism with humility after taking charge, but the bullies are not saying anything. Given the threat to his life, I believe the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
Jia Yongji took over as the 10th chairman of Taipei 101 on the 3rd, however, as soon as he took office, he received threatening emails such as “Kill Jia with kitchen knives, scissors, razors. And justice.” Taipei 101 said yesterday that it reported the incident to the police in accordance with relevant procedures on the 13th and simultaneously strengthened internal security measures.
Jia Yongjie issued a post this morning saying that he had received threatening messages, saying, “Thugs have threatened my life every time, and he immediately called the police and dealt with it calmly.”
Jia Yongji said that after taking over, he faced various criticisms, including that he relied only on his looks and why he faced these criticisms without studying.
However, Jia Yongji said that “there will be zero tolerance for those who violate the law.” He believes that Taiwan is a country governed by the rule of law, and that criminals will be brought to justice.
Beicheng police said last night that they had launched an investigation after receiving a report on the 13th and initially suspected that foreigners were involved in the case. Currently, the entire case is being jointly investigated by the Xinyi Branch Investigation Team and the Municipal Police Criminal Police Brigade, and the relevant security measures are being strengthened.
Investigation Underway
The police are working to identify the source of the threatening email and are taking necessary measures to ensure the safety of Chairman Jia and the Taipei 101 staff.
