Jeonnam Disabled Sports Association and KEPCO KDN Sign Business Agreement to Support Disabled Athletes
The Jeonnam Disabled Sports Association has signed a business agreement with KEPCO KDN to strengthen employment support for disabled athletes. The agreement ceremony, held at the Jeonnam Sports Center, was attended by key officials and six disabled athletes.
The agreement aims to expand and revitalize the disabled athlete employment support project, which has been ongoing since 2019. The main contents of the agreement include:
- Employment of disabled athletes
- Support for training facilities and supplies
- Support for participation in games and competitions
- Event exchange and cooperation
With this agreement, six additional disabled athletes in three sports – hockey, bowling, and swimming – will be employed at KEPCO KDN, bringing the total number of athletes working under KEPCO KDN to 40. This is the second largest number after Korea Rural Community Corporation.
Two athletes from Hanwha KDN participated in this year’s Paris Paralympics, showcasing their skills and determination. Fencing athlete Baek Young-hye advanced to the quarterfinals of the team event, while archery athlete Jang Gyeong-suk advanced to the round of 16 of the mixed team event.
Park Jeong-hyeon, the standing vice president of the Jeonnam Disabled Sports Association, emphasized the importance of expanding employment opportunities for disabled athletes. “We will strengthen cooperation with companies to provide more benefits to athletes who are often overlooked in the employment process,” he said.
The Jeonnam Disabled Sports Association is currently supporting a total of 170 disabled athletes in cooperation with 9 companies, including KEPCO KDN.
