Empowering Disabled Individuals in Indonesia: One Data Initiative for Targeted Support
Jakarta – Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf said that the One Data initiative by Statistics Indonesia (BPS) will help create programs for people with disabilities. The President has asked BPS to check and combine all data from ministries, institutions, and local governments into one dataset, which will include information on people with disabilities.
Yusuf highlighted that accurate data is essential for effective social assistance programs. He noted that President Prabowo Subianto values precise data, which supports decision-making at the Ministry of Social Affairs.
With the One Data program, Yusuf expects government programs to meet real needs. The data will assist in creating effective solutions, focusing on health, education, and employment.
He mentioned that Law Number 8 of 2016 requires government agencies and State-Owned Enterprises to hire at least 2 percent of their employees from people with disabilities, and the private sector must hire at least 1 percent.
The Ministry of Social Affairs will also start a program to create job opportunities for people with disabilities. This initiative aims to foster inclusion and support for those within the community.
