On November 16, 2024, students from the Civic Welfare and Training Service (CWTS) program attended a plenary session at Central Philippine University (CPU). The theme of the event was “Dimensions of Development – FIRST AID.”

The session took place in the Rose Memorial Auditorium. It aimed to inform students about the significance of basic first aid skills. Participants learned practical skills that could help in emergencies at home, school, or in their communities.

The event began with an invocation by Mrs. Myla C. Cañas. This was followed by the Philippine National Anthem and the CPU Alma Mater song. Ms. Pamela S. Lactupo introduced the resource speaker for the session.

Jose Miguel P. Peña, RN, delivered the main lecture. His presentation, titled “CASAlam: Empowering Students to Save Lives Through Learning Basic First Aid Skills,” focused on teaching attendees how to respond effectively to emergencies. He shared essential knowledge and skills to help students feel confident in handling crisis situations.

After the lecture, the CPU NSTP team expressed gratitude to the speakers. CPU-NSTP Coordinator Prof. Annalie D. Gilongos and CWTS Coordinator Ma. Leen C. Gahum awarded certificates of appreciation and tokens to Jose Miguel P. Peña. Chilou P. Batoon served as the emcee for the session.

The CPU-NSTP continues to organize important activities. These events are vital for equipping students with skills to respond responsibly in times of crisis.
