As part of its commitment to “develop with Africa,” Japan continues to invest in human capital to promote quality growth in Benin. The inauguration of 08 classrooms and toilets at AChG Agbanou in the community of Allada by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Benin, Hideki Uezono, is a testament to this commitment.
The donation, signed with a total cost of one hundred million eight hundred and nine thousand two hundred and seventy-eight (100,819,278) FCFA between the Embassy and the NGO Nature and Development, aims to contribute to improving the education system in Benin. According to Ambassador Hideki Uezono, this project is part of Japan’s commitment to support the Government of Benin and the Municipality of Allada in improving its education system.
The mayor of the Municipality of Allada, Joseph Cakpo, expressed his gratitude for the new infrastructure, stating that it has significantly improved the working conditions of children and teachers at Agbanou’s AChG. The Representative of the Departmental Director of Secondary Education of the Atlantic, Irené Akpaki, the Executive Director of the NGO Nature et Développement Yolande Tohoundjo, and Eric TOFFON, Director of the College of General Education Agbanou, also welcomed the initiative and committed to making good use of the new facilities.
This achievement is just one example of Japan’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainable and inclusive development in Benin. By investing in education, Japan is helping to build a brighter future for the people of Benin.
