The Elementary School attached to the Faculty of Cooperative Education will have an online exchange with a school called Humanitarian Lyceum “Linguist” Named after Zarifa Aliyeva Irpin (Lrpin School) in the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, on Thursday, September 26, 2024 from 15:00 to 15:30. We have carried out. This exchange was based on a proposal from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), an independent administrative agency. It was held inside. The donation ceremony was attended by the Ukrainian Minister of Education and Science, the Japanese Ambassador, and JICA representatives.
The affiliated elementary school exchanged with Irpin School, which has everything from kindergarten to high school, and places emphasis on foreign language learning, including a Japanese language course. Therefore, 16 children between the ages of 11 and 13 who were learning Japanese participated in the exchange and tried to communicate in Japanese. At the affiliated elementary school, 58 children in the music group sang the song “Rainbow” and added gestures. Afterwards, he introduced Gunma and the affiliated elementary school using simple Japanese while showing photos. The Ukrainian children then introduced Ukraine to us in fluent Japanese. After each other’s presentations, we asked and answered questions such as “What kind of study do you do?” “What are your hobbies?” “Tell me about famous Ukrainian music.”
After the event, the children said, “I was happy to be able to communicate with foreign friends in Japanese,” “I want to interact with them more and learn more about Japan, and also about Ukraine,” and “Ukraine and Japan. I was interested in a job that would serve as a bridge between the two countries.” It seems like it was a very valuable experience for the children.
In addition to this event, we plan to promote exchanges between the two schools so that we can continue to learn from each other.
