Empowering Young Minds: Mitoyo City Launches Innovative Financial Education Initiative for Kids

On October 25, the city and Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Ltd. signed a collaboration agreement with the aim of improving the well-being of citizens*1 through the promotion of financial education for the younger generation. Mitoyo Money Club, an after-school club activity run by instructors from Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank where middle and high school students learn about finance for a better life, has already started in September, with five members currently active. It’s inside.

At the signing ceremony held online, Mayor Yamashita said, “Your company is focusing on activities to realize Financial Well-being*2, and provides various financial education. I would like to work together to develop a system that provides a variety of opportunities for learning about finance.”

In response, Kazuya Oyama, president and director of Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, said, “We received information from the city that they would like to start a club activity that explores ways to deal with money in a healthy way.”1 , it is a new challenge for our company to engage in financial education continuously throughout the year as an after-school club activity, rather than in the form of a two-session class. I would like to contribute to the operation of the Yomoney Club, and I am excited to work together with the city through this partnership agreement to improve the well-being of our citizens.”

The “Mitoyo Money Club” holds activities at City Hall every other week after school and on holidays.
