ENAP Leadership Changes: Farfán Steps Down, Friedmann Remains at Helm
Key Personnel Shifts at Chile’s national Oil Company
As confirmed by multiple sources, a disengagement has occurred within the leadership of ENAP (Empresa Nacional de Petróleo), Chile’s state-owned oil company. This follows a period of interim leadership by Rodrigo Farfán.
Rodrigo Farfán’s Tenure at ENAP
Rodrigo Farfán, a chemical civil engineer with a degree from the Federico Santa María Technical University, began his career at ENAP in January 1999. He initially served as a Storage and Terminals engineer at the Aconcagua Refinery. Over the years, he progressed through various roles, demonstrating a consistent commitment to the company’s operations.
His career trajectory within ENAP included positions as Production Optimization engineer, shift Processes engineer, Programming engineer, head of the Catalytic Cracking Division, and head of the Operations Department. This breadth of experience positioned him for leadership roles.
In August 2013,Farfán assumed the Management of the Aconcagua Refinery. He later expanded his responsibilities to become manager of ENAP Refineries in February 2018. From January 2021 until recently, he held the position of ENAP’s Refinery Operations Manager.
Following the departure of Julio Aranis from the general management of ENAP, Farfán served as interim General Manager until Julio Friedmann was officially appointed in November 2023.
Julio Friedmann’s Appointment and Current Leadership
Julio Friedmann officially took over as ENAP’s General Manager in November 2023, following farfán’s interim period. His appointment signaled a continuation of ENAP’s strategic direction.
Edmundo Piraino and Operational Excellence
edmundo Piraino, a chemical civil engineer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, currently leads Operational Excellence management at ENAP. His role focuses on optimizing processes and improving efficiency within the company.
