Enchanting Voices Unite: Discover the Fresh Faces of Opera in ‘La Bohème & The Magic Flute’ Concertante
Young Artist Concertante ‘La Bohème & The Magic Flute’ to Shine at Daegu Opera House

The 21st Daegu International Opera Festival is just around the corner, and to kick things off, the young artist concertante ‘La Bohème & The Magic Flute’ will take the stage at the Daegu Opera House Theater on the 20th at 7:30 PM.
This concertante performance is a unique twist on traditional opera, stripping away elaborate stage sets and costumes to put the spotlight on the singers’ musical talents. The next generation of vocalists from the Daegu Opera Studio will take center stage, showcasing their skills in this special production.
‘La Bohème’, composed by Italian master Puccini, is a timeless tale of love, loss, and the struggles of young artists. The opera follows the story of Mimì and Rodolfo as they navigate the ups and downs of life, friendship, and romance.
In contrast, ‘The Magic Flute’ is a beloved masterpiece by Austrian composer Mozart. This enchanting opera whisks audiences away on a fantastical journey of love, adventure, and the eternal struggle between good and evil, as Prince Tamino and Pamina, the daughter of the Queen of the Night, search for true love in a mystical world.
Conductor Lee Dong-shin will lead the performance, with Pyo Hyeon-jin and Lee Hye-young directing ‘La Bohème’ and ‘The Magic Flute’, respectively. Adding to the excitement, Caroline Podolac, winner of the Canadian World Vocal Competition, will make a special appearance as ‘Papagena’.
Tickets for the performance are priced at 10,000 won, and reservations can be made through the Daegu Opera House official website (www.daeguoperahouse.org) or Interpark (tickets.interpark.com). For more information, call 053-430-7421.
