England Completes T20 Series Clean Sweep Over South Africa with Dominant 9-Wicket Victory
England achieved a clean sweep in the three-match T20 series against South Africa, winning by nine wickets in Centurion. England chased down a target of 125 runs with 51 balls remaining. Danni Wyatt-Hodge scored 53 not out, while Sophia Dunkley added 24 runs.
Wyatt-Hodge reached her second consecutive T20 half-century in just 31 balls. She dominated South Africa’s struggling bowling attack, which faced five dropped catches. Maia Bouchier was the only wicket to fall for England, caught by Nondumiso Shangase for 35 runs off 21 balls, after an opening partnership of 56 runs in 5.4 overs.
South Africa struggled early, losing their first five wickets for 45 runs. Stand-in captain Chloe Tryon scored only one run. Nadine de Klerk and Nondumiso Shangase then rescued the team with a partnership of 52 runs. South Africa finished their innings with 124 runs in 20 overs. England’s Charlie Dean excelled, taking 3 wickets for 26 runs and contributing to a run out.
England’s captain, Heather Knight, chose to bowl first. Seamers Lauren Filer and Lauren Bell dismissed openers Anneke Bosch and Faye Tunnicliffe in the first two overs. The series will continue with three one-day internationals starting Wednesday, December 4, in Kimberley.
