Karun Nair made a strong statement for a potential Test recall, scoring an impressive 186 not out for India A against England Lions. The India A vs England Lions match saw Nair dominate the first day of the unofficial Test.
Nair, age 33, previously hit a memorable 303 not out against England in 2016 in Chennai.Despite that feat, he was dropped from the team after only six matches. His recent performance highlights his ambition to rejoin the national squad for the upcoming Test series.
Nair’s innings included an 181-run partnership with Sarfaraz Khan and an unbroken 177-run stand with Dhruv Jurel. Sarfaraz khan, who was surprisingly left out of India’s Test squad, contributed 92 runs. Jurel, however, who was selected for the Test team, ended the day with 82 not out.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Test opener, was caught behind off Eddie Jack, a 19-year-old seamer from Hampshire, for 24 runs.Josh Hull,a left-arm bowler who debuted for england in a Test against Sri Lanka last year,stood out among the Lions bowlers.
