Carsley Names England U21 Squad, Eyes Euro Championship

James Carsley has announced his 23-man squad for the upcoming European Championship in Slovakia, setting his sights firmly on securing the title. The England U21s, placed in Group B alongside the Czech Republic, Germany, and Slovenia, aim to advance to the quarter-finals.
Carsley, who recently extended his contract with the Football Association through 2027, is back in charge after a stint as senior team boss.During his six games, he secured five wins and one loss, guiding England back to the Nations LeagueS top tier.
The squad blends Premier League experience with emerging talent. Newcastle full-back Tino Livramento, who has one senior cap, joins Liverpool’s Jarell Quansah and Harvey Elliott. Other notable inclusions are Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson,Tottenham’s Archie Gray,Brighton’s Jack Hinshelwood,Bournemouth’s Alex Scott,Manchester City’s James McAtee,and Ipswich’s Omari Hutchinson.
Arsenal winger Ethan Nwaneri, 18, is the youngest player, following a breakthrough season where he scored nine goals.
“It’s important I just do a good job, I’m just trying to do it again [win the Euros],” said Carsley. “The priority is the Euros and I won’t be taking my eye off of that.”
“Hopefully we’ll be good to watch. That’s what you want. You want people back home watching the next generation of England players and being excited by it,” Carsley added.
