For many, England might not be the first place that comes to mind when thinking about culinary delights. But for one American, it’s a land of simple pleasures and unforgettable flavors.
“England isn’t traditionally known for its food, but for me, it represents pure enjoyment,” he says. His wife’s family owns a farm in the English countryside where they grow vegetables and raise sheep. This bounty of fresh ingredients is transformed into delicious meals, with roast lamb being a particular highlight.
“I know the animal had a happy life and was raised humanely,” he explains.”That makes a difference in the taste. The organic potatoes from their garden are amazing too. This ‘roast,’ as they call it, is always the highlight of our trips to my wife’s family.”
He recalls falling in love with both his wife and the simple pleasures of her homeland from the very beginning.”I was smitten from the moment we met,” he says, a hint of nostalgia in his voice.
