Increased Security Measures in Naples‘ Piazza Dante

This morning, a significant police and Army presence was noted in Piazza Dante, Naples. Residents observed these security forces as part of the ‘Safe Streets’ operation.

Michele di Bari, the prefect of Naples, visited the site to engage with local residents and law enforcement personnel. He reassured the community that security efforts will continue to grow, including more night patrols.

“Piazza Dante is an important symbol for Naples. We must protect the numerous businesses and residents, as well as the Convitto,” he stated. The prefect emphasized enhancing controls around the square to prevent illegal parking and street racing among youths.

Di Bari acknowledged the efforts of Minister Piantedosi, who has been directly involved in overseeing security in Naples. He mentioned that there are currently 1,500 surveillance cameras in the city, with an additional 350 planned for the metropolitan area. He also highlighted the Campania Region’s allocation of 2 million euros to boost security in suburban areas.
