Enter a Twisted World: ‘Worship’ Brings a Sinister Twist to the Pikmin Formula
Worship: A Darker Take on the Pikmin Genre
When you think of games like Pikmin, there are very few that come to mind. Especially ones that take the genre and give it a darker tone. However, that is what Chasing Rats Games hopes to do with Worship. Your minions are still cute, but you won’t mind throwing them into their early graves or sacrificing them so you can shed their blood to cast powerful spells.
Speaking with Alexis Gallant-Vigneault, CEO of Chasing Rats Games, we asked what the inspiration for Pikmin’s design was. “Having followers and players fantasizing about Pikmin versus a cult leader made sense to us,” he said. “So we tried to experiment with it. The first prototype was really interesting, so we decided to follow it.”
The design behind the followers will still be cute, which is intentional on the team’s part. “We wanted to have that dark humor,” By Gallant-Vigneault. “We had some jokes in the game, and it had to be something that didn’t take itself too seriously, that was dark but also cute and whimsical, and that was the intention from the beginning.”
Worship is launching soon, and we had the chance to speak with the team behind the game. Check out the full interview to learn more about this unique take on the Pikmin genre.
