Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca faces the media ahead of Sunday’s fixture at Anfield, maintaining that the club’s titles are absolutely not
tainted despite an independent commission finding the club guilty of the majority of 115 Premier League financial charges.
Enzo Maresca Defends Manchester City Titles Amid Financial Verdict
Speaking at a Friday press conference, Maresca rejected assertions that the club’s silverware has been compromised by the regulatory rulings. The 46-year-old manager expressed complete faith in the club’s hierarchy, stating he trusts the owners, CEO, and sporting director entirely.
Maresca admitted he had not personally read the written findings issued by the independent panel, which concluded that Manchester City breached financial regulations between the 2009-10 and 2017-18 seasons. The commission’s verdict detailed ‘sham’ contracts and misleading accounts designed to disguise secret funding exceeding £830 million.
Despite the severe findings, Maresca insisted that he would still have accepted the managerial position in June had the verdict been made public beforehand. The club have formally appealed the decision, arguing in a statement that the ruling contained clear material errors of law, principle, and fact.

Preparation for the Liverpool Clash at Anfield
Manchester City prepare to face rivals Liverpool on Sunday in their first fixture since the independent commission announced its verdict. Maresca acknowledged his side should expect an exceptionally hostile atmosphere at Anfield due to the ongoing regulatory fallout.
Internal discussions have taken place between Maresca and chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak regarding the case. Maresca told reporters that the appropriate moment to address the outcome of the dispute will arrive once the club wins its appeal. He added, We all trust, and probably the right moment to speak about that is when we are going to win this appeal.
He added: For me, the players – we can control just the pitch side, the football side.
On the sporting side, Maresca confirmed striker Erling Haaland is ready to feature against Liverpool after returning from international duty with Norway. Maresca has won each of his opening five Premier League fixtures since succeeding Pep Guardiola, putting him in position to potentially become the fourth manager to win his first six of a spell in charge of a club in the competition.
Vincent Kompany Expresses Pride in Past Achievements
Former Manchester City captain and current Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany commented on the ongoing situation earlier on Friday. Kompany stated that he is immensely proud of everything achieved on the pitch during his 11-year playing career at the club. Everything we’ve achieved and done on the pitch I’m really proud of,
he stated. Everythin

While Maresca and former players defend the sporting integrity of past accomplishments, questions remain regarding the eventual outcome of Manchester City’s appeal against the independent commission’s verdict and how the prolonged legal challenge will impact the team’s domestic campaign.
