Erdoğan Drops Bombshell: US Secretly Opposes Ukraine’s NATO Bid, Reveals Exclusive NBC News Interview

September 25, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor News

President Erdoğan, who is in New York for the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), gave an interview to Keir Simmons from the American channel NBC News.

MASSACRE IN GAZA

In his interview, Erdoğan emphasized the Israeli massacre in Gaza and responded to a question about Turkey’s relationship with Hamas as follows:

“We are against terrorists. But I am one of the leaders who know Hamas well. I have never called Hamas a terrorist organization. And right now, I do not consider Hamas a terrorist organization. Because Hamas is a resistance group that strives to defend its territory.

Answering the question about what happened on October 7, Erdoğan emphasized that the pain suffered by the Palestinian people before this process should not be forgotten.

President Erdoğan said, “From 1947 until today, Palestine has come to this day by losing its lands. When we explore behind the scenes, unfortunately, we need to know the reasons that prepared these conditions for October 7. We need to understand them well. And I wonder how many Palestinian martyrs there are.” “When we examine what happened behind the scenes and how many Palestinians were killed, the situation reaches very different levels.” he said.

“USA DOES NOT WANT UKRAINE’S NATO MEMBERSHIP”

Answering the question about how Ankara considers Ukraine’s NATO membership in the Ukraine-related part of the interview, President Erdoğan said that he will look at the actions of all NATO countries on this issue.

Erdoğan said, “America does not want Ukraine to become a member of NATO in the first place. Many NATO countries do not want Ukraine to become a member of NATO in the first place. We need to make our decision by seeing these facts.” he said.

Noting that the NATO membership issue of Ukraine is a matter to be decided in detail, Erdoğan said:

“When we look at these facts, these are not matters on which we can take action with enthusiasm. When we make our decisions on these matters, we of course take into account the position of all NATO members and make our decisions accordingly with that. At the moment, the stance of all NATO countries is what it is to me and what it is not to other countries.” “We will follow these developments and make our final decision. These decisions are not made with excitement.”

Erdoğan asked Simmons, “Have you decided on this matter?” “No.” He replied:
