Erdoğan Lands in the US: A High-Stakes Visit to the United Nations
President Erdoğan Attends 79th UN General Assembly Session
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan arrived in New York on September 21 to participate in the 79th session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly.
Erdoğan was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including his wife Emine Erdoğan, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Family and Social Services Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek, Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır, and Trade Minister Ömer Bolat.
During his visit, Erdoğan also stopped by the Turkish House skyscraper, home to the Consulate General of Turkey.
Prior to his trip to the United States, Erdoğan reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to normalizing relations with Syria, expressing his willingness to meet with Syrian President Bashar el-Assad.
