Erika Beras on Planet Money’s New Book and Pittsburgh Book Tour Stop

Pittsburgh-based NPR podcast Planet Money host Erika Beras is set to discuss the podcast’s first book during a stop on its book tour in Pittsburgh on April 22, 2026.

The book, titled “Planet Money: A Guide to the Economic Forces That Shape Your Life,” was written by Alex Mayyasi and the eight hosts of Planet Money, including Beras herself. It was published this month by W.W. Norton & Co. And has debuted on the New York Times nonfiction best-sellers list at number three.

Beras said that when she first started as a reporter for Planet Money, she felt intimidated by economics, thinking she needed to read many books to understand the subject. However, she soon realized that economics is intuitive and part of everyday life.

The event in Pittsburgh will take place at the Carnegie Lecture Hall in Oakland, where Beras will be joined by Alex Mayyasi and Kevin Zollman, a Herbert A. Simon Professor of Philosophy and Social and Decision Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University and Director of the Institute for Complex Social Dynamics.
