Erika Jayne Reportedly “Emotionally Destroyed” by Tom Girardi’s Prison Sentence
Erika Jayne, star of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, is reportedly experiencing a range of emotions after her estranged husband, Thomas Girardi, 86, received a sentence of more than seven years in prison. Girardi’s sentencing stems from his conviction on four counts of wire fraud, related to the theft of millions of dollars from his clients. The legal saga has cast a shadow over Jayne,53,and her role on the reality show.
Jim wilkes, an attorney representing Jayne, told The U.S. Sun that Jayne is struggling with the news. He suggested that while she is likely ”emotionally destroyed,” she is also compartmentalizing the situation.
“Erika spent many years with Tom,she is experiencing a wave of emotions. I’m sure she’s emotionally destroyed, but there’s a part of her that’s shut off and compartmentalized,” Wilkes saeid.
Wilkes, a longtime friend of Girardi, also stated his belief that Girardi is suffering from dementia, but acknowledged that he deserved the prison sentence. He added that Jayne likely had no input regarding whether Girardi should be in prison or a mental health facility, as the court made the decision.
Wilkes suggested that a divorce between Jayne and Girardi is unlikely, given Girardi’s declining mental health and incarceration.Jayne will likely remain legally married to Girardi until his death.
Following Girardi’s sentencing, prosecuting attorney Bill Essayli condemned Girardi’s actions, calling him a “thief and a liar.” IRS special agent Tyler Hatcher added that the sentencing brings recompense to Girardi’s victims and demonstrates that criminals cannot evade law enforcement.
What’s next
Girardi is expected to serve his sentence in a minimum-security prison due to his age and health. The legal ramifications of his actions, including potential further investigations and civil suits, are ongoing.
