The Austin Police Department (APD) has issued a BOLO alert after McArthur Mathis, a registered sex offender, escaped from The Cross Creek Psychiatric and Addiction Hospital on Wednesday. Mathis was being held there after his arrest in Grimes County on Jan. 2, stemming from several outstanding warrants.
Mathis faces a string of charges, including unlawful firearm possession by a felon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious harm too a family member, obstruction or retaliation, engaging in deadly conduct, and burglary.
