Essilor Stellest lenses have demonstrated the ability to slow the progression of myopia and reduce axial length growth over a seven-year period of wear.

Data presented at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology meeting indicate that the lenses slowed myopia progression by more than 2 D. The findings showed a reduction in axial length growth of nearly 1 mm over the seven-year duration.

The lenses are currently the only spectacle lens authorized in the U.S. For the purpose of slowing pediatric myopia.

The length of the study is considered a significant factor in the validity of the results. Björn Drobe, PhD, who serves as the director of applied myopia research at EssilorLuxottica, noted the clinical value of the extended observation period.

What makes these findings particularly important is the duration of follow-up, Seven-year data provide valuable insight into treatment outcomes over time.

The ability to track outcomes over seven years allows researchers to better understand the sustained efficacy of the lenses in managing the growth of the eye and the progression of nearsightedness in pediatric patients.
