Chris Eubank Jr. Faces Inquiry Over Sauna Use Before Conor Benn Fight

⁣ ⁤ Updated June 17,2025

Chris Eubank Jr.’s victory over Conor benn may be under scrutiny. The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) has called Eubank to a hearing in early July to address allegations of sauna use during his weight cut. The Eubank Jr.⁢ weight‍ cut is under scrutiny.

The BBBofC prohibits sauna use, and the inquiry follows Adam AzimS opponent, Eliot Chavez, being pulled from a fight after using a sauna to make⁣ weight. Robert Smith, general secretary ⁢for the BBBofC, stated the board needs to determine the facts. “We need to establish exactly what⁤ the situation is,” Smith ⁣said. ⁤”I want to find out the dates when it was all done.”

Eubank, 35, defeated Benn by points in April, a fight overshadowed by weight issues. He missed weight, incurring a £375,000 fine, but remained within the rehydration limit. The BBBofC faces questions regarding sanctioning the fight, especially with⁤ Eubank claiming his weight cut‍ was deliberately “derailed.”

Smith noted Eubank “boxed as though⁢ he had no problems” and “was as strong in the last round as he was in the first round.” He added, “The medical documentation we [received] as the contest says he was fine.”

Eubank previously faced penalties, including a £100,000 fine for slapping Benn with ‍an egg,⁤ bringing his total penalties before the fight to £475,000. The weight fine was ⁢paid directly to Benn, as stipulated in their fight contract. The Eubank‍ Jr. ⁣penalty was substantial.

What’s next

The Southern Arena Council will convene at the beginning of ⁣July to hear Eubank’s explanation, with doctors present. The council will than decide on any ⁤necessary action regarding the potential Chris Eubank Jr. punishment.
