Updated June 29, 2025
Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor benn are set to reignite their rivalry in a rematch scheduled for Sept. 20 in London. The highly anticipated bout follows eubank Jr.’s victory over Benn in April at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
While the venue for the September fight is yet to be finalized, Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn suggested Wembley Stadium as a possibility to accommodate a larger crowd. “Spurs is contracted,” Hearn said, noting it’s success hosting the first fight. “This fight’s even bigger, so you could possibly look at Wembley.”
Their April contest drew significant attention, taking place 35 years after the first clash between their fathers, Chris Eubank Sr. and Nigel Benn. Eubank Jr. secured a unanimous decision victory, with all three judges scoring the fight 116-112. His record now stands at 35 wins in 38 fights.
Benn acknowledged the upcoming fight on social media, stating, ”Experience gained, lessons learned.”
The lead-up to their initial fight was marked by controversy. A scheduled 2022 match was canceled after Benn failed a drugs test. Although Benn denied intentional doping and was later cleared by anti-doping authorities, tensions remained high.At a media conference in February, Eubank slapped Benn with an egg, referencing reports that Benn’s failed test could have been linked to excessive egg consumption. Eubank was fined £100,000 for the incident.
Adding to the drama, Eubank was fined £375,000 for missing weight before the April fight. Eubank, who typically fights at a higher weight class than Benn, also faces scrutiny from the british Boxing Board of Control over his alleged use of a sauna to cut weight, a violation of regulations. He is scheduled to appear before the board in July.
Despite years of estrangement,Eubank Sr. accompanied his son to the stadium on the day of the April fight. The elder Eubank defeated Nigel Benn in 1990, followed by a controversial draw three years later.
