Euroleague Basketball appointed Jesus ‘Chus’ Bueno as its new chief executive,effective instantly. Bueno was unanimously elected by the Euroleague Commercial Assets (ECA) board of directors and succeeds Paulius Motiejunas, who held the position as June 2022.

Bueno will oversee Euroleague Basketball’s overall strategy, focusing on business growth, market expansion, and enhancing the fan experience. He will also work to maximize value for clubs, partners, players, and fans, and further establish Euroleague tournaments as the leading basketball competitions in Europe.
Background and Selection
According to reports, Bueno beat out Michael Ilgner for the role. The appointment comes as Euroleague Basketball prepares to launch a new league in Europe next year. Prior to this appointment, Bueno played professional basketball in Spain, including for FC Barcelona. After retiring as a player, he transitioned into executive roles.
