Myanmar Seeks Foreign Aid Amid Typhoon Yagi
Following Vietnam, Myanmar was hit by super typhoon ‘Yagi’, resulting in a significant increase in damage and casualties.
The death toll, reported at 33 on the 13th local time, rose to 74 in one day.
Although 89 people were counted as missing, local media also reported that more than 100 people were missing.
It is difficult to calculate damage due to a long civil war and communication disruption caused by a typhoon.
Amid concerns that the actual extent of the damage will be far greater, Myanmar’s military regime has made an unusual request for support from foreign countries.
